Download
A small installer that fetches the rest.
The setup program is a couple of megabytes. It shows the terms, downloads the application from our servers, verifies its SHA-256, and offers the solved example scenes as an optional extra. Running inWaves needs an account and a license; a 30-day trial counts.
Already have an account? The portal lists every build with its checksum and release notes: portal downloads.
What the setup does
- Terms of use. The EULA is shown and must be accepted before anything is downloaded.
- gmsh. inWaves builds volume meshes with gmsh, a separate free program. Its licence (GPLv2+) means we do not ship it, so the setup opens its download page and then checks that it can find it. You can install it later; everything except volume meshing works without it.
- The application. Downloaded from our servers and checked against a SHA-256 that is built into the setup. A truncated or tampered download is refused, not installed.
- Example scenes (optional). Solved projects, over a gigabyte in total, so they are a separate download. Skip them here and the welcome screen can fetch them later, at any time.
System requirements
| Operating system | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit (x64). No macOS or Linux build. |
|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB RAM recommended. The largest example scene wants 4 GB by itself. |
| gmsh | Required for volume meshing, installed separately (GPLv2+, so it is not shipped with inWaves). The setup links to it and checks for it. |
| GPU (optional) | NVIDIA GPU with CUDA for flow-solver acceleration. Not required; without one the same build solves everything on the processor. |
| Network | Internet connection at application launch for license activation/validation. Solving is fully local. |
Verify what you run
The setup verifies the application package against a checksum built into it, so a bad download cannot reach your disk. The setup itself is published with a SHA-256 checksum next to it, and the portal shows one for every build. Compare before you run it:
PS> Get-FileHash .\inwaves-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
If the hash does not match the portal's value, do not run the installer. Download again and tell us.
About the Windows SmartScreen warning
Our installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will warn that the publisher is unknown. Verify the SHA-256 checksum against your portal first, then choose More info → Run anyway. Code signing is on the roadmap; until then the checksum from your authenticated portal session is your integrity guarantee.
